Pier 2 Peer: Marga Gomez

It is our honor to kick off our PRIDE month edition of our Instagram Live series, Pier 2 Peer, with the one and only Marga Gomez. Tune in Wednesday June 10 at 3pm to hear the award-winning comedian and solo performer @themargagomez.

Marga is a GLAAD Award-winning comedian and writer/performer of thirteen solo plays which have been presented nationally, Off-Broadway and at Bay Area Venues.
Her newest solo play, “Spanking Machine” was to have its San Francisco premiere engagement at Brava theater in March 2020 and was postponed due to Covid but she performed it online for Brava on May 31st. Spanking Machine has been commissioned by Dixon Place for its yearly HOTFEST. And will be performed virtually this July.

As a @BravaTheater artist-in-residence, Marga was curating a monthly stand-up series, “Who’s Your Mami Comedy” on the second Thursday of the month in Brava’s Cabaret. It is currently postponed. Her acting credits include “Sense8” (Netflix) “Sphere” (Warner Brothers) and “The Vagina Monologues” with Rita Moreno.

Marga was one of the original members of Culture Clash back in the day and rejoined one if its founding members Richard Montoya for in January 2020 in “Translating Selena.” Her comedy appearances include LOGO, Comedy Central and HBO’s “Comic Relief” at the invitation of Robin Williams who called her “Amazing… a lesbian Lenny Bruce.”

Marga teaches solo performance online and in San Francisco at The Kearny Street Workshop, A.C.T and Brava. Currently she is creating comedy and performance and devising ways to be an artist online.
